"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Powerful but true verse; being human is to err. We all fall down but the character - the very essence of who we are is getting up and learning from past mistakes.  Like you, I have hopes and plan for a brighter future and I am doing all that is possible to reach those goals.  Life has given me 100 reasons to cry, but I chose to show life that I have 1000 reasons to smile.  Receiving letters and emails are a big part of that reason to smile, to hope, to keep the faith, to dream. Connecting and communicating with others is part of the fuel that drives me to be a better me every day.  Certainly I could make 'excuses' for my incarceration but the reality is associations and bad decisions have consequences. Like a number of people, I was raised in a loving 'military' family - a family who loved me dearly. However, I thought I was missing something and made some bad decisions, ran with the wrong crowd. I accept full responsibility for those decisions. Bad decisions are often made by good people. Richard von Weizsaecker once said that seeking to forget makes exile all the longer; the secret of redemption lies in remembrance. I want to remembrance. I want to remember all the good and the bad because it allows me to do the good better and not repeats the bad.  I think it was Rita Mero who
said that, 'have no regrets in life. Everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person." I cling to those words because we cannot change the past, but we can let it drive us to a better tomorrow.  Although I have diversified skills, I am an aspiring chef with a propensity for writing. I am a very articulate, focused, caring and most of all - I am just normal guy trying to make the best of my current situation for a
brighter future.  If you find the time, drop me a line.  Communicating brings hope. Einstein once said that "learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow". I am hoping for people to understand that all people in prison are not bad people. I see me as a good person with many good qualities. I hope to share words of solace with whoever desires to write.
